MARIBELLE A.
A typical damsel in distress
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,7,true][atrb=valign,top] | ★ NAME -- maribelle arianna de archis ★ AGE -- nineteen ★ ORIENTATION -- heterosexual | ★ GROUP -- civilian ★ GENDER -- female ★ OCCUPATION -- student at hero academy |
Why can't I just say no or yes
★ APPEARANCE
Maribelle is quite a petite girl standing all of five feet and one inch. Her small stature brings about many annoying comments like she’s pocket size or a little person, which she finds quite rude. She’s just nineteen so there’s a chance she could grow much taller in these next two years. She could become the world’s tallest woman! Besides, she’s not the shortest person in the world. She’s just not tall enough to reach the top shelves of most cabinets even though she’s an adult…
Her skin color is a bit darker than most people. e’s a natural pretty bronzed color that looks like she bathes in the sun daily. It’s not necessarily true but she does like to be outdoors more than indoors. And she does have a few tan lines, but she’s not really a sun bather. Being outside is just more fun since there’s a whole lot more things to do outside than inside. She has a rather childish face with a very round head and big eyes. It doesn’t her that she has a rather childish personality, making it hard for anyone to treat her like an adult. Puffing out her cheeks when she’s irritated doesn’t help her either. But she does hope her childish like appearance sustains her for at least another twenty years. She’s not really someone who wants to look old.
While she’s not the vainest person in the world, she does want to maintain a certain level of cuteness. She attempts to look girly with her hair kept long either in pigtails or straight down. Short hair seems very masculine to her. Maribelle typically wears dresses and skirts over pants. She’s susceptible to falling for the latest trends of fashion because someone has called them fashionable. She’s not particularly a hat person. And unfortunately, she’s not a morning person either so her appearance before sunrise is disastrous.

★ PERSONALITY
Maribelle is the optimistic type. She tries her best to look on the brighter side of things rather than dwell upon the negatives. There are many good things in the world and life was meant to be enjoyed regardless of hardships. She doesn’t understand a pessimist’s view. Why would you assume bad things will happen? What good comes from assuming nothing good will happen?
She’s a passionate person. When Maribelle feels strongly about something, everyone knows. She’s not one to hide her feelings about anything. If there’s something she intends to do, she puts her full heart and soul into doing it. It’s not to say she doesn’t have her lazy moments. She rather enjoys a nice nap every now and again. But if she’s going to do something, she wants to dedicate herself to doing it to its fullest. Whether she’s attempting to study, cook, or improve upon something, she tries her best! Sometimes, it becomes borderline obsessive to do her best. And sometimes, she takes doing her best a little too far. But that’s all a part of being passionate.
Her happy, energetic ways make her a bit lively. And her lively personality can make her annoying. Since she’s not hiding how she feels about things, she’s quick to point out things she doesn’t like. She doesn’t like rudeness. And if she takes something as rude, she’s vocal about it. Sometimes, she can come off a bit brash by demanding someone fix their attitude or even apologize. It’s not to say she’s forceful and will constantly dwell upon such a thing. But she’s an impulsive girl. Whatever comes to her first is what she expresses first.
As far as bad traits go, Maribelle isn’t lacking. She’s not brave. She’s not the world’s biggest coward, but someone tells her a scary story about the house down the lane, she’s not exploring that house. She is a naïve, childish girl. If forced to go to the scary house down the lane, she’ll put on a brave front. She’ll walking into the house like it doesn’t scare her. But her knees will shake and she’ll probably stutter the whole time she’s there until the nervousness goes away.
She doesn’t like the word no or stop. Maribelle would rather never say those words or hear them. When something tastes good, she’d happily eat until she bursts. When something feels good, she’d do it until she was too tired to do it anymore. Sadly, the world doesn’t work like that. Hugging someone has a time limit before it’s just considered creepy. Not everyone wants a constantly high five. And it’s rather impossible to hold someone’s hand indefinitely.

★ Backstory
The story went, that twenty years ago her parents moved to beautiful and wondrous city of Stenbild for the same reason many others moved. It was a big city with tons of opportunity. But more importantly, the city had the sense of protection and peacefulness thanks to its fairly advertised heroes. So they left their hometown and moved to the city. A year later, Maribelle was born.
She grew up in a middle class family living in the Silver Stage most of her life. There wasn’t anything particularly eventful in her first years of life. She went to school and had friends. Her parents worked the majority of the time trying to make life better for the three as a whole. Like most children, she watched Hero TV and idolized the people she saw on it. They were cool with amazing powers! They fought crime and saved the day with really cool catch phrases and awesome fighting moves!
Of course, heroes lost a bit of their appeal by the time she hit her teenage years. Trying to be a normal girl was more important than any hero saving the day. Crimes seemed to take place more on television than her life, so at fourteen she could care less about the city’s most highest rated show. She was more concerned with having broken every glass in the house because her best friend told her about kissing some boy. She had NEXT powers, and they seemed more like an inconvinence to the family than anything. Her voice would inflect to a higher pitch at the oddest times, or it would sound like someone turned up the volume of her voice. There was even a time where everyone in her household sounded like they were shouting thanks to her unnatural powers. Teachers seemed to have lesson plans echo several times when she wasn’t paying close enough attention. But for the most part, her powers weren’t too big of a distraction. And as long as she wasn’t too careless, they didn’t really cause too many problems.
It wasn’t till her final year of high school that something amazing happened that interested her in heroes again. She was out Christmas shopping when a fire happened and heroes appeared to save all the people trapped inside. It was truly miraculous how they appeared in time to save everyone and how they were able to do everything. Those cheesy lines, comics, accessories, and other purchasable merchandise weren’t really what heroes were able. They were legitimate people who had NEXT powers that wanted to help others. She wanted to help others too! She wanted her powers used for something that could keep people save rather than an inconvenience to all. So she signed up for the Hero Academy in hopes to become like the people she idolized once again.

--Sound Manipulation: Maribelle was gifted with the ability of sound manipulation. It allows her to theoretically distort sound waves into what she wills. She should be able to distort them so that she can mimic others, however she's never been able to do it. She should be able to distort them so they appear to sound far away or close by, but she can't do that either. She should be able to distort sound waves so they're cancelled out and nothing but silence is heard, but she can't do that either. She has, however, been able to intensify the effects of sound, making it sound louder or at a higher pitch. And she has been able to cause a sound wave to repeat.
Intensifying sound waves, or as Maribelle cause it making things more annoying typically happens when she's trying to pay too close of attention to something. If she feels she can't hear someone, she's able to make things sound louder. With a good amount of concentration, she can make someone who's whispering speak at a normal tone. And on a really, really good day, she can make her own voice loud enough to be heard for miles. She can also increase pitch, but she's not as good with it. Her ability to control pitch takes more concentration. The few times she has been able to control it, she has been able to cause a sound that could shatter glass. The other times she's done it were more accidents of being overly excited causing eardrum piercing screeches of happiness. Maribelle is trying to control her the whole painful screeching aspect.
As far as sound waves repeating, it's better described as an echoing effect. She can make a sound wave stay active longer than it was intended. As such, words can sometime echo around her when she's not paying attention because they were subconsciously important to catch but she didn't. On occasion, scolding her makes her powers active since she's attempting to take what she's being scolded to heart. The words can repeat endlessly until her powers deactivate. Sadly, she's never been able to control such a skill and it more just happens rather than the girl attempting to use the skill.
