Again, I'll update this when I find a decent template. Just keeping the info here in the meanwhile. :3
Overview
A long, long time ago,
I can still remember
How that music
Used to make me smile. - Don McLean, "American Pie"
Born and raised on rock and roll, Abbey Mackenzie is a young lady for whom looking and listening is everything. A student by day, courier by night and practitioner of fledgling NEXT powers, she glides through life with an unassuming nonchalance that defies her deep-rooted desire to understand and learn.
In due time, though - right now, there's still plenty of time to live while she's alive.
Friends
Take my hand
And we'll make it, I swear.
We're livin' on a prayer,
Livin' on a prayer. - Bon Jovi, "Livin' On A Prayer"
Abbey's friends are, in all honesty, far and few between. Certainly, she has many acquaintances and peers of her age and distinction, but not many that she would regard as particularly close to her. That said, those whom she does see as a friend is one whom she will stand by through thick or thin, rain or shine, day or night. She is not one to put her trust into many people, but those whom she does are tethered to her by an unbreakable bond forever and always.
Enemies
In full devotion
I forgot my fears to comfort yours.
I guess recovery means
You don't need me anymore. - Blue Stahli, "Burning Bridges"
Enemies are a foreign concept to Abbey, being of the opinion that if you have time to hold grudges, you have too much time to waste. Of course, she would be lying to herself if she denied bearing at least a little resentment towards her father for leaving her and her mother in days gone by. Perhaps her undeniable trust issues are the result of her inability to forgive her father, mentor and idol.
It may be that the kind and innocent songbird is bearing more scars than she would like to suggest. Who can say when she may suddenly decide to take that malice on on somebody else?
Love
Don't feel bad, because I won't cry,
I'll do your will and not ask why.
But that's alright, because
I believe you. - Celldweller, "I Believe You"
Love is something of a strange notion to Abbey. Since she was very young, she felt like she didn't belong with her fellow girls and preferred retreating into her own little world. Over time, as she became accustomed to her latent curiosity, she found she was more attracted to girls than boys. This is something she is comfortable with, yet has never fully addressed: having never been interested in romance beyond simple lyrics and words in a song, she prefers to observe others follow their hearts from the sidelines.
Still, somewhere in the recesses of her teeming subconscious mind drifts the image of the girl she saved on the bridge way back when. Whether she saved a total stranger out of simple altruism or something more is a question she will one day have to confront for herself.
Others
Come on, you raver,
You seer of visions!
Come on, you painter, you piper, you prisoner,
And shine! - Pink Floyd, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"
Abbey Mackenzie is a drifter, a student, an observer of life and its many wonders and oddities. Content to take life as it comes, yet still yearning for something deeper, she is just as unsure as to what she really wants as everyone else is.
Still, while she searches for the answers she doesn't know she's looking for, she's willing to live her life and see where the road takes her. There's a lot she doesn't know about the big city, though - and time will only tell what side of the bigger picture she ends up on.
