" depending on the size and amount of the animals being manipulated, the time varies. domesticated animals such as dogs, cats, and horses are easier to manipulate. non-domestic animals - like, for some reason, a lion - he could only manipulate for about ten minutes, for it is also a strong and large animal. a swarm of bees could be controlled for roughly the same time due to their swarm mentality and small size. controlling animals like dogs or cats is much easier and can last upwards of two hours at a time. after controlling the animal, it usually will resist for at least ten minutes or depending on the animal. the larger and more untamed animals he manipulates, the more tired he gets. some animals form a strong bond with shay and can be manipulated for much longer if they have said bond.

shamus is a pretty intimidating guy. standing at almost six feet and three inches, most people are shorter than him. he is slightly over the average weight, but that is mostly due to the amount of muscle he has on his body. though he isn't nearly body - builder - buff, shay is lean, with tight muscles. his hair is black and choppy, falling about from his ear to his neck with a red stripe in front. the most notable trait shay has are his eyes; he's heterochromatic. that is to say, his eyes are two different colors. one is red and the other is gray-blue, though they can sometimes seem to turn different shades depending on the lighting. he isn't blind, it's just a different color due to his genetics. he has quite a few piercings and scars, though they aren't really worth being discussed at length. he has a wolf tattooed onto his right shoulder blade.

★ Backstory
shamus noble was born to the married kimberly and austin noble. very plain names, they wanted their son to be unique, thus giving him what they believed to be a fairly uncommon irish name. it was helpful in his life, though; there were never three " shamus's " in the same class growing up. he liked being so unique, though his parents tried to assure him that he was actually just like everybody else. he knew that wasn't true when he managed to stop a lone wolf attack on his little brother one day around age fourteen. the poor wolf had been starving; it had seen a weakling and decided to go after it for food. shay stopped the wolf, though, thus saving his brother.
it was then that his parents knew he really wasn't like everybody else. he could control animals, command them to do his bidding. shay felt the animal trying to fight his control that day and commanded it to follow him home. the male fed the beast and it became one of his closest friends. after a time, he didn't need to manipulate the animal; after all, wolves are the cousins of dogs and are fairly willing to be domesticated if given the chance. plus, the wolf had been young, just barely a year old . . . why it didn't have a pack, shay never knew. when time came to pack up and leave their little town in the woods a few years later, shay managed to sneak his new wolf - ghost, the strongest son of the original - as well as his fox, alice. if he had to move away for schooling, he might as well have some old friends, right?
his life was pretty smooth from there. aside from his seemingly random mood changes, shay graduated from his schools with good marks, swiftly going into the medical career. because of his love of animals, he became a part - time vet. he knew that couldn't give him the money he needed, so he became a real doctor. sure, that had taken a lot of time and money to follow both those career paths, but it was worth it. he could be with animals andmeet some sexy single people in the hospital, er, help people. there was no tragic event that drove him to become " master red, " or " red " for short. he just didn't want to go into the lime light of being a hero, nor did he think the criminals should get off as easily as they did. he simply knew he could do it - become a vigilante, help the world - and created his other self.
