All he could do was nod his head to Yuri’s words… he had not been in the city long enough to know how the justice system worked or how badly it was. Most of his time had been spent on learning what he didn’t in the forest and working on his hideout. But also tracking down leads and taking care of those who had a hand in what happened to his parents. In that whole time he never once ran into a hero then again… he was usually done before anyone came along. And the fact no one knew what the Vigilante was really going after or who his targets were so it made it easy for him to strike without anyone knowing.
When it came down to it, there wasn’t much of his life before the forest that he remembered and that included things like hugs and kisses… family holidays and the joy of them. All he could remember was the look on his mother’s face as she laid in the cabin of the plane, out cold and then the look on his father’s face right before he passed away… the haunted him in his nightmares… No matter how hard he stared at the picture of them that he had on him since the crash… it was the nightmarish images that stayed him more often.
Alex gave another nod of his head to Yuri’s words…he couldn’t give away the fact that he could more than handle himself against someone twice his size let alone someone his own size. ”I keep forgetting how much more dangerous humans are than the wraith of nature let alone animals…” He said truthfully even though he was rather those two things…humans were dangerous and he hated going up against them but he could handle.
It only took him a matter of minutes before he was in a light sleep…still curled up in a ball. For once, he felt at ease and peace. He wondered if this was because of where he was and knew that he had someone watching his back or if it was just the drugs in his system…
The sleep only lasted for about three hours before he woke up, his shirt soaked with sweat… After a few deep breaths he calmed down and the nightmares had faded away. Alex’s blue eyes glanced around the study noticing that Yuri had passed out at his computer. Slowly and carefully he took the blanket from the sofa and draped it over Yuri before quietly making his way out of the room, leaving the door cracked.
He was thirsty and hoped that he could find a sink or somewhere to get some water. Cold water would have been lovely but he would have settled for room temperature water. He really wasn’t sure where he was or where anything was, so he just started to roam around in hopes of finding water soon to take care of the thirst… his mouth felt so dry and he felt like he could drink a gallon of water.

However, there was one thing that kept the apartment from being completely silent. There was a soft murmuring coming from the kitchen, and the closer one came to the room the clearer it became that there was a conversation going on. The conversation was one-sided though, with a soft, elderly woman's voice comprising all of what was being said. "Poor dear, you just need a glass of water, that'll take care of your scratchy throat. You should take better care of yourself, you know," Origa crooned softly to the empty seat beside her. She was about to say more, after setting the glass on the table in front of the empty chair, before her attention was torn away by a foreign presence. Her head whipped around and focused on Alex's figure. She stared for some time before moving to stand unsteadily. "Who are you and what are you doing in my house?" She demanded, her voice reaching a shout, "Don't you know who's home this is? Get out, get out!"
Despite the fact that Yuri didn't get much rest most days, he was by no means a heavy sleeper. The yelling roused him from his slumber and he startled awake, bolting upright in his chair. Shaking his head a few times, he ran his hands over his face as he tried to push away the grogginess from his impromptu nap. He honestly didn't mean to fall asleep, not when there was so much still to work on...A small sigh flared his nostrils as he relaxed back into the chair. Things went quiet for a bit, leading him to believe that perhaps he had dreamt up the noise and woke himself up. That notion was dispelled, as he soon glanced over to the sofa and found both it and the floor in front of it was empty. Where had Alex gone?
Scrambling from the chair, the blanket fell to the floor as he quickly padded out of the room. The scene he discovered in the kitchen drew a scowl across his pale features. His expression was concerned for a moment, as he glanced over Alex to make sure the boy was alright, but as soon as he looked to his mother, his gaze hardened in frustration. "Mother, stop--"
"You! You're the reason this vagrant's in our house!" He barely had time to duck before a glass sailed over his head.

It had surprised Alex with how quiet this household was for being in the city. An eerie kind of quiet… Even though it was creepy, it didn’t stop him from looking for something to kill his thirst, his mouth felt so dry. He froze in his sport when he heard the voice coming from another room. His eyes glanced over his shoulders from where he had come knowing the Yuri-Sama was still sleeping and then he glanced back to where the voice, it was a woman’s voice…older by the sounds of it. And from what was being said made him wondering if there was someone younger here…if Yuri had a younger brother or kid.
After pushing those thoughts aside, he made his way into the room not expecting what came his way next. He stood there blinking for a moment as he was kind of yelled at. ”Yuri brought me here and this is his home, crazy old woman.” He said in one of those tones that was on the quiet side but still rather scary. His head quickly turned around when he heard footsteps behind him and saw a frustrated Yuri there. He felt back that this woman’s yelling at him woke Yuri up… he had looked so tired before…
Alex’s attention was turned back to the older woman before them and a faint growl was given at what she called him. ”I’m not a bloody vagrant and you have no right to be angry at Yuri… He save me from those people after me for no reason.” He figured that he shouldn’t bring heroes into this picture because it would make him look worse than what he was and give this crazy old woman more ideas.
His eyes narrowed at her when the glass went fly and he growled a little louder, his hands closing into fist as he stood there. ”That is no way to treat your son. After all he does to keep this city safe by being a judge… and with the good heart he has… You should be proud of him not angry and throwing things. You should be in locked in a padded room crazy old fart.” Alex’s voice was a little louder than before, still not at the point of yelling but rather close. Having found himself becoming rather protective of his friend. The anger was clear in his voice though… He had only guessed this woman was Yuri’s mother and he wasn’t even sure how close he was about that truth.

His olive gaze narrowed to the point that his eyes were mere crescents against the pale skin of his face. "Mother--" He began again, only to be cut off. "Good heart? He's a murderer! He killed his father! And - and - look at him, he'll kill us all," Origa's voice had quieted to a mere whimper as she noticed the look on her son's face.
Shaking his head, Yuri shut his eyes tightly, willed himself to let all the words and anger wash over him. "You're thirsty, or hungry?" He queried, though he didn't wait for an answer or even look at the blonde beside him. Shoulders rigid, he stepped into the kitchen, his attention lingering on the figure of his mother. When she shrunk back as he stepped around her to retrieve a glass from the cabinet and a pitcher of water from the fridge, another soft frustrated noise escaped him. His next stop was at the pantry, to retrieve a box of crackers. While it wasn't the best he could offer, he wasn't about to stay in the same room as his mother to offer a better snack.
"Let's go," Yuri stated firmly as he stepped back to Alex's side. Though he felt touched that the youth would stand up for him against his mother, it was too draining for him to stand there and listen to it. Even her feebly wailed accusations that Alex should run because Yuri'd kill him stung. She didn't understand - she was too hung up on his father to realize just how he saved her. Huffing a soft breath, he shook his head, posture going pin straight as he made his way out into the living room, towards the study once more.

Well Alex was a bit relieved when Yuri said the word mother…confirming his guess on that being his mother. However what his mother said next stunned Alex and he couldn’t believe a mother would say that. It brought back the pain of not having his mother around and memories of how good she used to be to him even though she was rather busy. ”No mother would ever say such things about her own child…your just blinded and not willing to see the truth…” Alex muttered, his voice starting to crack so he stopped speaking all together.
So all he could do was nod his head when he was asked if he was hungry or thirsty…more thirsty any hungry. His stomach was still in knots and plus he never at too much in one day. Just what he needed to take care of what he burned up working out and patrolling. Seeing how he was no longer in the forest, he didn’t want to keep the same habit of eating through out the day, sometimes eating more when he found a good source of food. Back then; it was eat while it was possible because he never knew when his next meal would come along.
He stood there quietly, feeling bad for being the cause of this whole argument thing but wondered if this was how the relationship between Yuri and his mother was. The Yuri he knew wasn’t a monster… not the one who played with him awkward all those years ago and the one here before him fighting to keep the city safe but also still caring about him.
Alex only moved when the words let’s go were spoken. He fell in line right behind Yuri and followed him back to the study. Once in the study, he sat quietly on the floor and sighed deeply…pushing back his thoughts as he looked up at Yuri. ”I’m sorry… I was thirsty and I had no idea.” Not able to shake the whole feeling bad for causing all of this trouble. His one hand came up and rubbed at the back of neck as he yawned, not able to hold back any longer.
”You should let what she said to you bother you… She is an old crazy lady who seems blinded by her past and hate… She doesn’t know the truth. Why not move into a place that handles people like her?” He asked with a tilt of his head, wondering if Yuri kept her around as a reminder of something or if she was just his punishment for something that had happened in the past. Normally he wouldn’t be doing this but he didn’t like seeing Yuri like he was.

Glancing over to Alex as the boy apologized, he shook his head slowly. "It's not your fault," He stated, his voice schooled into a blank monotone. "You couldn't have known." After all, it wasn't like he had given the other any warning...In all honesty he wanted to avoid any contact between the youth and his mother, but what was done was done. A low breath escaped him and he rolled his shoulders a few times, then raised a hand to delicately rub at his eyes in an attempt to stave away the fatigue and frustration that nagged at him. It only increased further when he lowered his hand and noticed his fingers were lightly smudged with his cover-up. That's right, he hadn't washed his face yet to re-apply his make-up...At the very least, it didn't appear enough to reveal much of what he hid underneath, and so he relaxed slightly.
"Hm," He turned a thoughtful glance to Alex, as he busied himself with grabbing the pitcher of water to fill the glass for his companion. A wry smile tugged at his lips but he managed to school it into a more neutral line. It would have been easier for him to ignore his mother's words if they weren't true. He had killed his father, after all...His reasons were just in his own mind, however she never took it that way. "She is still my mother, despite what she does..." Yuri once considered turning the woman over to a retirement home, but the thought made him feel guilty. Her mind may have been twisted from the abuse she received from his father, but he couldn't just push her away like that...
Exhaling slowly, he held out the glass of water to Alex, his lips curling downwards in a frown. "I'm sorry you had to see that," He murmured softly.

A part of him wondered what his life would be like if things hadn’t gone the way they did. What his relationship to his parents would be like. His parents used to go out of the way for him… And he was reminded about of piece of that with Yuri… instead of hiring a nanny, the found Yuri to be a playmate of sorts instead. He also noticed the size of the college fund they had set aside for him… everything like the estate was sealed. Which surprised him in the fact that he figured it would have gone somewhere. So apart of him wondering if there was someone out there looking after him that knew he was still alive or if it was a trap set by someone.
The reason why he used various accounts from the company that was in family for years…to get the money he need to get his revenge and buy the stuff he needed to do that. The way it was set up, no one would ever notice not even with a close look. His thoughts drifted back to his parents wondering what they would think of their son now…what he had become.
Reality had come back to him and he gave a nod of his head to Yuri’s words and offered a tiny smile. His blue eyes watched Yuri carefully for a moment, wondering how much stress his mother caused him. Even though he had slept for a while, Yuri still looked tired but more frustrated anything else and Alex felt bad for that. A brow was raised when noticed the slight hint of makeup or some kind of pant on Yuri’s fingers but said nothing… after tonight’s events he didn’t want to add more stress to his friend.
”She still maybe your mother and nothing will change that but she seems stuck in a point of time… or something like that and doesn’t see beyond like. Its kind of like when old people can’t remember anything past five minutes…they slip in and out of present and past. You shouldn’t have to carry the burden she brings you… should place her in a home that cares for people like that…After all it can’t be doing her any good with the stress that comes from seeing you because she is blinded by the moment she is stuck in… Maybe being in a place that cares for those kind of people will help her get unstuck…and better. Besides you can always visit her…and giving her better care than you can here…”
Alex wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to say or even he should be saying anything but he was just trying to help. Being that same little kid from all those years ago…do whatever he could to help out those around him without a care of how it would affect him. He reached out and took the glass of water; quickly drinking the glass in one go…he was rather thirsty. After sitting the glass down, he looked up at Yuri and shook his head. ”No need to be sorry. Its nothing like an old moose cow that wants nothing more than to kill you.” He flashed a grin before looking down at the rug.
”I should go… let you get back to sleep or off to work… I don’t want to be keeping you from anything important.” Alex was more than ready to find that judge now that he was rested and feeling better. It was time to bring out his own mask and go hunting.

He knew there were truth to the teenager's words, he had contemplated the same many times before, yet he always hesitated on actually acting on those thoughts. No matter how bad it got with his mother, he just couldn't bring himself to put her in a retirement home. Early on it had easily been labeled as wanting to continue to protect her, just like he had protected her from his father. That was before she started to slip so far into her dementia, though. Now...Now he wasn't sure. She may as well be part of his burden to bear for his past deeds. Either way, he still felt reluctant to let her go under anyone else's care.
"I know," He murmured quietly, reaching out to tousle Alex's hair in that stiffly affectionate manner of his. Honestly, it was all he could say. Yuri acknowledge the truth in the blonde's words but didn't want to act on them. One of his little weaknesses, he supposed. "Can't say I have much experience with those," A small, tired smirk crept onto his lips as he withdrew his hand. The fact that the other had managed to survive well, and if what he had seen of the boy's athleticism so far was any indication, thrive in the forest was really something.
Cocking his head to the side, he glanced back to Alex as he spoke again. A slow nod was given, his smirk fading into a neutral line. "I should finish up here, then head out in a couple of hours." He already had an impromptu nap, any more sleeping wasn't really in his schedule. It was unhealthy perhaps but he had so much to do. "I'll walk you to the door," He said softly, sidling over to place his hands on Alex's shoulders before he made to exit the study and head towards the apartment's front door.

Alex looked up at Yuri for a moment after he heard the ‘I know’ a faint sigh was given, nodding his head the slightest. He took a step closer and placed a hand on the white hair male’s shoulder. ”No matter what happened in the past, you didn’t earn this burden… And she would be in good care. Sure no one would want to piss of a judge. It’s time for you both to let go of the past…” Going down the whole it's not your fault route... He offered those kind words not sure if they would help any or not. But he felt so bad for his friend and wished there was something more he could do.
Sure he should follow the advice about letting go of the past but he couldn’t do that himself. It was the whole not knowing that bothered him the most… In the end, he just wanted closure like everyone else. Nothing was going to stop him from finding those answers but he also wanted them to suffer like he his parents had… Make them lose the thing they held dearest to them like he had… There was darkness…anger in him that he hid so well from everyone. It bothered him to lie to Yuri like he was… to hide so much from him and Alex didn’t understand why, only that it did.
He smiled widely when Yuri spoke about not having experience with moose. ”Cows are not something you want to have to deal with.. they don’t like anything in their space even more so when they are with child.” He said, calling the moose female by what it was a cow… not the farm cows that are turned into burgers. Alex thought back to that time, the fact he managed to walk away still surprised him to this day. Even though he had a few broken ribs and a whole lot of bruising and most likely a concussion on top of it all. If anyone would take an x-ray of his body, they would find one hell of a story there with all the broken bones that have healed then re-broken only to heal again.
Alex didn’t want to over stay his welcome and plus he needed to get prepared for the night to come. There was a judge on his menu and he was going to serve some justice and get some answers. ”Should try to get some more sleep…Yuri-sama.” He said as he followed Yuri to the door and once they reached the door, he turned and hugged his friend once more. ”I’ll see you around.” He said before heading out the door.
