HOW THAT MUSIC
★ APPEARANCE
Abbey is an average young lady, standing at a reasonable 5’8” and 120 lbs. Her slightly boyish features often lead to others mistaking him for a young man, though she does little to dispel these conceptions. Her auburn hair reaches down to her shoulders and remains in a perennially unkempt state, with teal-blue eyes and smooth, pale skin. Rounded glasses are perched at the end of her nose and, more often than not, she has a pair of headphones on her ears or dangling around her neck. Her attire usually consists of a black blazer and pastel undershirt, the colour depending on her mood at the time, with denim jeans and leather boots. A large, mute-coloured scarf is often draped around her neck to complement the headphones, regardless of the weather outside.
★ PERSONALITY
Young, enthusiastic and eager to get out and explore the world. This is more often than not the image one gets of young students who, fresh out of their teenage years, are looking to make something of themselves.
As it is, Abbey is quite content to just sit back and let life come to her. Always at the edge of the action, but never quite getting involved himself, she observes the world from the sidelines and is utterly enamoured by what she sees. She can often be found sitting alone with a pair of headphones on, listening to rock and roll gods singing to him the poetry of the ages, just taking in everything around her and enjoying herself in her own quiet, introspective way. That’s not to say she’s reclusive or detached from her surroundings: she is remarkably intelligent for her age and keenly aware of what’s going on around her; she just chooses to stay quiet unless she really has something to say.
And, as the old saying goes, “Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.”

★ Backstory
Born in Westminster, London to a middle-class mother and aspiring musician father, Abbey Mackenzie was raised on a steady diet of rock and roll since she first entered the world. Her father, a stalwart disciple of the great musicians, played such music for his daughter since the latter was a young girl and encouraged his daughter’s early interest in poetry and lyrics. Abbey would spent hours in her room every day, exploring the work of the rock pioneers and pondering life through her frosted window. Come rain or shine, Abbey would spent her time watching and waiting, always wondering if, one day, she would follow in the footsteps of her heroes, as her father had done before her.
Of course, things weren't always that easy. After her mother lost her job due to her firm’s closure, the family had to find another way of making ends meet. Her father was forced to put his dreams aside for the sake of his family and, for the first time in his life, had to think of reality. After months of working at a menial job and saving a little money, he had made enough to pack his bags and take his family elsewhere.
So it was that Abbey and her family left the cosy suburbs and streets of London for the bright lights and bustling metropolitan lifestyle of Sternbild City. Enamoured at first sight by the enormous potential awaiting them, Abbey’s father immediately sought to make something of himself. The more time he spent perfecting his musical style, though, the less time he spent with his family. Before long, he became distant both physically and emotionally, focusing entirely on his career over anything else. Undeterred by her father’s absence, Abbey continued seeking inspiration and meaning in the world around him. Deciding to take her father’s distance from the family as an opportunity to take her life into her own hands, she enrolled in a local community college and began her studies of the arts. Her desire to be self-sufficient led to her leaving home and finding herself her own apartment, which she opted to pay for by working as a courier for a delivery company.
As fate would have it, whilst idly wandering across a bridge one day in the midst of an errand, she noticed a young woman perched distractedly at the bridge’s edge. By the times he realised what was happening, the stranger had already stepped off.
In that moment, Abbey’s desire to save the stranger overcame her desire for normalcy. She found herself running at speeds she never thought possible; the only thing occupying her conscious mind was the drive to stop the girl from taking her own life. In a flash, she grabbed the girl’s hand and dragged her back onto the bridge. Before the stranger could ask Abbey who she was or why he had done something so unmitigatedly foolish, Abbey had already left, equally amazed and terrified at what had just transpired.
It wasn’t until a little while later that she realised that she was in possession of what those in the city termed “NEXT powers”. It occurred to her then that she was, in some way, akin to the heroes that patrolled the city and served as its idols and champions. Even if she herself had no desire to be a hero in her own right, she began to wonder if, someday, her powers would be of use to somebody as it had been that day.
Still, there’s a whole lot of life be to be lived while she’s still young, and Abbey is determined to make the most of it as best she can.

Yes
--Flash Step (Superhuman Agility): Abbey is capable of moving at speeds that far exceed that of any human being, moving with enough agility to seem like she is “flashing” from one spot to the next. This extends to her entire body, giving her super-fast reflexes when moving. That being said, she can only “step” to within a range of about ten feet and cannot use her powers to run long distances. In addition, it requires a great deal of energy to “step”, and without proper focus, she risks tiring herself prematurely.
